Help Protect Trans Youth from Attacks in the Texas Legislature!

February 16, 2021 by Patrick Hanley | Public Policy and Advocacy Lead

Despite the many challenges facing the Texas Legislature this session, legislators are filing bills that target the rights of transgender and gender non-conforming youth.

Bills such as HB 68 and HB 1399 would virtually end affirming medical care for transgender youth in our state by creating criminal penalties for care and outlawing professional liability insurance for affirming providers.

HB 1458 and SB 373 are bills that would legislate discrimination in school sports by mandating participation based on sex assigned at birth. These cruel bills are “solutions” in search of a problem and force schools and teams to regulate someone’s gender identity.

How can you help?

1. Click the button below to send a letter to your state legislators opposing these bills. Stories make a big impact so feel free to add your own thoughts and experiences.

2Are you an affirming healthcare provider? Or, are you an affirming coach, parent or teammate? Legislators need to hear from you! If you fall in these categories and want to lend your voice, please contact our advocacy team at phanley@myresourcecenter.org

3. We expect more anti-LGBTQIA+ bills to move soon. Make sure you are signed up to our advocacy alerts list so that you won’t miss any opportunities to make your voice heard!

happy thanksgiving.
