Counseling is a collaborative process through which individuals or couples work one-on-one with a trained licensed counselor in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. The goal is to talk through mental health issues and help clients explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others and set personal goals.
Good therapy is client-driven, respectful, culturally sensitive, and affirmative. Specific goals for therapy are determined by you and your therapist based on short-term counseling, typically once or twice weekly for 12-20 sessions.
